Cast vs. Calendered Vinyl
We use cast vinyl from 3M and Avery Dennison for all full wraps. Here’s why it matters:
| Cast Vinyl | Calendered Vinyl | |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | 2–3 mil | 3–4 mil |
| Conformability | Wraps complex curves, recesses, and body lines | Stiffer, struggles on curved surfaces |
| Shrinkage | None — holds its shape | Has “memory” — can shrink and lift over time |
| Lifespan | 7–10 years | 3–5 years |
| Best for | Full vehicle wraps | Flat commercial signage |
If a shop offers a full wrap at a significantly lower price, ask what vinyl they use. Calendered vinyl on a full wrap is the most common source of wrap failures.

Our Wrap Installation Process
1. Design Consultation
We discuss your goals — color change, branding, custom graphics — and show vinyl samples. For commercial wraps, we create digital mockups for approval before cutting any material.
2. Surface Preparation
Full hand wash, clay bar decontamination, and IPA wipe-down. Any chips or damage in the paint are noted — wraps conform to the surface, so defects may be visible through the film.
3. Vinyl Application
Film is applied panel by panel using heat and slip solution. Panels are stretched and tucked into edges, door jambs, and body line recesses. We wrap edges wherever possible for a seamless, paint-like appearance.
4. Post-Heat Finishing
After application, every panel is post-heated with a heat gun to activate the vinyl’s adhesive memory. This locks the film into curves and recesses and prevents future lifting.
5. Detail & Final Inspection
Edges are trimmed, overlaps are cleaned, and the entire vehicle is inspected under LED lighting for bubbles, debris, or imperfections.
6. Pickup & Care Instructions
You receive care instructions: hand wash only, no automated brushes, avoid wax-based products, and address edge lifts promptly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a vehicle wrap cost in Houston?
Full wrap: $2,500–$5,000 for a sedan, $3,500–$6,000 for an SUV or truck. Partial wraps: $500–$2,000. Chrome: $5,000–$8,000+. Price depends on vehicle size, vinyl type, and design complexity. We provide free consultations with exact quotes.
How long does a vehicle wrap last?
Cast vinyl wraps last 5–7 years on daily drivers, up to 10 years on garaged vehicles. Calendered vinyl lasts 3–5 years. We use cast vinyl from 3M and Avery Dennison for all full wraps.
Will a wrap damage my paint?
No. Properly installed and removed wraps protect the paint underneath. Wrapped areas will be in better condition than exposed paint when the wrap is eventually removed.
Can I wrap a leased vehicle?
Yes. Wraps are fully removable and protect the paint, making them ideal for leases. Remove before returning and the paint is in original condition.
How do I care for a wrapped vehicle?
Hand wash only — no automated brush washes. Use wrap-safe cleaners with no wax or abrasives. Park in shade when possible. Address edge lifts quickly before water gets underneath.
What's the difference between cast and calendered vinyl?
Cast is thin, flexible, conforms to curves, and lasts 7–10 years. Calendered is thicker, stiffer, can shrink, and lasts 3–5 years. We use cast for all full wraps. If a shop offers a full wrap at a very low price, they may be using calendered vinyl.
How long does wrap installation take?
Full wrap: 3–5 business days. Partial wrap: 1–2 days. Chrome: 4–6 days. Complex custom designs may take longer.
Do you offer fleet wrap discounts?
Yes. We offer volume pricing for multi-vehicle fleet wraps. We also provide standardized templates for rapid installation on new fleet additions. Contact us for a fleet consultation.
