Texas Window Tint Laws
Every installation at A Plus Auto Glass complies with Texas Transportation Code §547.613:
- Windshield: tint allowed above the AS-1 line only (top 5 inches)
- Front side windows: must allow more than 25% visible light (VLT)
- Back side windows: no restriction (as dark as 5%)
- Rear window: no restriction (as dark as 5%)
- No reflectivity restrictions in Texas
Medical exemptions are available for drivers requiring darker front tint for UV-related conditions.

Can old tint be removed and replaced?
Yes. We remove old tint using steam and adhesive solvent, then clean the glass before applying new film. Old tint removal adds 30–60 minutes per window.
Do you tint front windshields?
We apply a tint strip on the windshield above the AS-1 line (top 5 inches), which is the legal limit in Texas. Full windshield tint is not legal in Texas for non-exempt drivers.
